Somehow my boy has managed to cut his knee open about about an inch wide and 3 inches across in the field.. clever boy came up to gate on his own before 8am and waited till someone would see him..
Vet was called as wasnt risking it being on the joint and he has been known to get cellulitus.
Luckily its not gone into his joint so he's been cleaned up and wound has been dressed and bandaged. I've to change it tomorrow and then vet is back thursday.
He's on dannilon and antibiotics for 5 days and we are looking at 3 week box rest at the moment.

So just after some tips really on any products or remedies that are good for aiding healing. As its on his knee and unable to stitch it i can see it being a bugger to heal so anything that can help it go as smoothly as possible would be great..
After this i'm going to be a bandage pro! gettin so paraniod about it slipping and gettin too tight..

Thanks

Don't panic too much about the bandaging, just keep a good eye out for swelling above the joint then youll know if its too tight :) I have no hints or tips on healing wounds quickly as my girl was in a cast while her leg was healing. But yes you will become an expert!
Polos and love and affection are all i can recommend and I honestly think they are the best healers, If your horse is happy then it will heal quicker- same principal as people!
Hope everything goes smoothly xx
