Hi,

Well I think I may have found "the one" I will update you all on her after Sat when my final viewing of her is :p

I'm looking for a bit off advice regarding her turnout if I was to buy her. At her current yard she is T/O all day and in at night. But her paddock has no grass in at all! (they put hay out instead) wereas my yard I have very good grazing all year round. What would you do regarding her turnout? I don't want to put her out 24/7 straight away, she is a good doer plus I think all the spring grass will blow her mind! I would love for her to be out 24/7 but not just yet.

She would be in the small paddock by herself at the start (Isolation) then after 2 weeks can move into the big field. But even the little paddock has very good grass. She's never had lami before but like I said she is a good doer and I don't want to end up with a very exciteable Horse as she is meant to be my confidence giver! I don't want to upset her stomache either from having no grass to lots off!

Thanks :)

As above but i'd have her on high fibre cubes or badminton Complete fibre cubes, to make sure it keeps her stomach solid.

Monitor and restrict grazing where possible.

Is there someone else that could graze the paddock she'll be in down before you get her.

Good Luck for saturday.

Thanks, I was thinking similar as I don't want to change her routine too much. I was thinking off stopping the hard feed (she isn't on much anyway), then if she needs it gradually re introduce it to her in say a month or so's time, if she hasn't put on too much weight that is. Then will have to have a re think!

But I hadn't thought about soaking her hay! so thank you, How long would you say to soak it for? I've never had to feed soacked before :o

She is currently a good weight, could do with more muscle but not that bad, she's only ridden about once or twice a week at the mo, I will be riding her 5 or 6 times a week.

She would be in the small paddock by herself at the start (Isolation) then after 2 weeks can move into the big field. But even the little paddock has very good grass.

If possible, why not leave her management as it is and just section the small paddock off, let her graze a section down over the first couple of days, then just gradually let her have a little bit more each day over the two week period she is on isolation, then, hopefully, going into the big field won't be such a shock to the system!!!! ;)

If she is a very good doer and you are worried about Lammi I would soak the hay for 24hrs, this gets rid of most of the goodness in it and it is then just bulk :)

Ask one of the other liveries to put their horse in the isolation paddock to graze it down before you get her.
