Advice on rabbits

Iv had rabbits all my life from one to 14 at one point!
But I cnt get over why some have really pooey bums and some don't?
There cleaned out 4 times a week, fed on a bunny mix and always have hay, I never give them fruit as it gives them the runs

Any advice on how to stop there pooey bums with out a vet bill?
There both happy and healthy otherwise.

Clean out daily, make sure they get plenty of time outside and change from bunny mix to Excel rabbit feed, its veterinary recommended and is a pellet feed and so much better for them :) also are they're vaccs up to date?
 
I used to have to trim the hair away from under the tail and around the back legs. I did it carefully with scissors my rabbit looked clipped after but it let him poop properly without it getting all balled up in the hair, especially the droppings they eat!
If all the droppings are loose then I'd have a chat with your vet. They can give probiotics which come in a syringe feed and may help stabilise the gut. Are they out on grass?
 
Make sure the majority of there diet is hay/grass (just like horses). May be worth getting some wormer from the vet and getting there teeth checked.
I find with bunnies on grass and adlib readigrass I need to empty there litter tray twice a day.

I second this, also, are they living alone or do they have a friend to help to clean? Are they overweight? This prevents them from reaching to clean themselves. You can google the breed to find the ideal weight and then weigh yours. I have often found that is the bun is mucky, they are overweight and can't reach round their fat little tummy!:D

Thanks, There all in separate living as they Dnt get on in the same cage, one is very clean and I hav no problem with her, the other 2 r dirty. One is a big bunny. She has a hide due lap? (sp) so I Dnt think she can reach, every time Iv taken her to the vet they say she's a good weight for her breed, I tried the excell feed for my old bunnie with this problem but it didn't do much to help, They always have hay to, :/
 
Their diet should realistically be ONLY grass and hay, if you want to give concentrated then throw away the high sugar bunny mix from the pet shop and get something like burgess excell grass pellets and then you must only give this as a treat, no more than 1 desert spoon a day!
 
I'd cut out the hard feed - rabbits in hutches/small runs just don't burn the calories - that's why they are kept in hutches in the first place - to fatten for the table, as usually they are very active animals! They also pick out the foods that are the highest in fat, so it's basically the same as a bunny mcdonalds!!
I'd just give them plenty of hay/grass/veg and some of those pellets are good for vitamins as they are mostly fibre which is what they are designed to eat not grains and they can't then pick through it. When I had rabbits they didn't get hard feed at all except in winter as they were out on an acre paddock with the chickens so it was only in winter they needed the extra calories, they were very fit and increadibly active little things which is a shame when you think the majority are kept in such tiny cages - 2 were very fat when they were given to me and did have poopy bums to start with as they just couldn't reach to groom, but it sorted itself out with the change in diet and exercise!
