I wonder if anyone has had a similar accident. The horse I was riding fell when jumping and threw me forwards. Thankfully the horse was fine, but I landed face first causing my neck and shoulder to receive a compaction type injury which has left me with problems with my neck and back similar to whiplash. I have been going to an osteopath/physio but we have come to a point where I don't seem to be improving at all. I read some forum messages about whiplash and went for Craniosacral therapy but it didn't seem to work for me. Has anyone got any advice on exercises to do or other forms of treatment? I was extremely fit when I had the accident. I run as well as riding and am back into running as it doesn't seem to make the problem worse. I am riding too just not as much as it makes me ache too much. I had the accident nearly 6 months ago now. Am I just being tooo impatient? Thanks.

Fine a really good Sports (deep tissue) masseur. They will help you be the best you can and stop other problems occuring - you are probably using your body differently to compensate for the pain and this could cause other 'stress' points which Sport Massage should keep at bay.

I had a truly spectacular riding accident a few years ago, (search back through my posts if you'd like to know more about it) and all I can say is - Take It Steady!

I have my confidence back, which was the biggest hurdle, but years later I am still in pain when I ride. I couldn't ride with stirrups for over a year because it hurt so much, but now I am fine to hunt, compete, etc etc. as long as I take some painkillers before, during, and after, and remember to kick my feet out of my stirrups at every chance.

It takes time, but you'll get there!
