advice on recovery after adult (horse) castration

hi guys, would love some advice/info on recovery time and any beneficial do and dont's for my adult horse (5yrs) whos just been castrated. I understand the swelling will be very bad but have been advised that can continue exercise after just one week. Any advice welcomed. thanks (also in NL)
 
I've had one 10yr old and a 4 1/2 yr old done and it took them a good couple of weeks for the swelling to go down and longer for the wound to heal, so I'd maybe leave for 2 weeks before you start ridden work - just depends on individual horse I suppose - although I know I'd want a few weeks off after major surgery!!!:)
