Hi I have a horse who has been out on loan for past few months due to a redundancy in the family. The loanee seems to be having handling issues with him, stemming from nappiness which is entirely out of character for him. Anyway I now need to decide what to do.
I cannot see our financial situation improving in the foreseeable future and in fact it may get worse, therefore I have decided to sell him
I am working shifts and doing every hour of overtime I can, so given I'm very time-poor I have been considering sales livery, which will ensure the nappiness issue is re-dressed and he also get regular and consistent work (and at a standard that is better than me)
It is likely to cost me £120-£140 per week which i can afford short term but would really need a sale within 4-6 weeks. I do not want a lot of money for him (good home better and it's more the winter livery bills that I would like to avoid). He's early teens, 16.2hh , good track record in eventing, low mileage last few years. Good in all respects, handling and ridden; he is a TB so not really suited to a complete novice. I was thinking £2.5k - Do you think this is a reasonable price and is likely to achieve a relatively quick sale? (its been 10 years since i sold a horse and have no idea what the market is like)
Or if anyone has any other suggestions??
Thanks for your help
