advice on sharer

hi everyone,
any ideas where to start -a friend of mine has a lovely 16hh tb x warmblood dressage horse and is looking for someone to share him weekdays? she doesnt want someone to school him -just hack him out and doesnt want any money! He is a real sweetie but not a novice ride as can get quite buzy -but I didnt know where to start -where to advertise him as he is not a competition/schooling share?! looked at a few websites but not all seem to be horses that people can compete/school?
any advice would be much appreciated!!!
 
I'm so jealous - that would be ideal for me! you could post the location on here and ask people to PM you - horsemart i believe offer a loan/sharer service
 
I would say there would be plenty of takers out there... one thing she may have to consider is letting them have the opportunity to get to know him in a school before they hack him out... I for one won't get on an unknown horse and take it straight out hacking... I like to know where his buttons are and any quirks before we hit the roads / bridleways...
 
There's a site called something like horses to loan - they're quite good, I advertised last year on there and on new rider classifieds and on a third who I can't remember (sorry) and got a lot of response. Eventually found the sharers that lasted from word of mouth and an ad one of them had put up in the local tack shop advertising herself.

Have one now (moved yards and too far for one sharer), she only hacks and was looking for a hacking share, she's also a very good EDT so it's smiles all round.

As its a dressage horse - how about suggesting a lesson with your friends instructor to make sure all are happy.

Headley is lovely.. near me!!
 
I agree about the schooling. If this is a dressage horse a sharer might want to ride in an arena at least *some* times. The other sharer we have for my horse gave up her last share because she couldn't school it (horse had long term health conditions so could only do light hacking). She doesn't jump him and most of the time she does just hack out but every so often the variety is nice. You'll find some happy hackers that wouldn't want to school but they might tend to want something slightly easier too.

Having said that free hacking (if it is good and off road) will def appeal. Try New Rider.
 
Sounds nice - I am not far from that area and would be interested - but would like to ride in school (if they have one) maybe once a week or take a lesson every now and again. Surely thats not unreasonable - don't fancy taking a horse out hacking that I don't know that well at first.
Is it a nutter when you say "buzy" - and is it good in traffic.
maybe direct me to the owner?.

yes I know she is not adverse to someone going in the school once a week -their yard is gorgeous -indoor and outdoor schools (I call it the Harrods for horses!! ha ha) -she just doesnt want someone in there more than that and I think lessons would be OK -of course no one is going to want to ride out in a nine force gale or storm, so that should be fine! It is def. not mental as far as I know and have seen but he is bright but she is only 5ft 2 and copes fine with him out! PM me if you want me to put you in touch with her

Just advertise him as a free hack!
