Forgive my ignorance of the subject but I am a complete virgin to the art of showing.
I am showing my lot at local level soon and would like a few tips if possible, so as to avoid mistakes if I can. I have suitable bridles for them all but I would like advice on the browbands please? There will be a traditional cob/gypsy vanner, TB and a Clydesdale Cross. Am I correct in thinking that the Clydesdale cross will be treated as a hunter type for showing purposes as I won’t be showing him as a traditional heavy horse breed? I have read that the cob can be shown in a coloured velvet browband, he is a piebald. But I am unsure on the browbands for the TB and Clydie cross. Do they have to be flat hunter style, rather than velvet? Also is bling-bling not appreciated either as both the cob and Clydie have bling/bling browbands on their everyday bridles. Sorry for sounding a numpty but ideally I wanted to add a bit of colour to them if possible. The Clydie is a bay and the TB is brown in coat colour if that is any help?
Thankies for any advice people can give me.

TB can be the velvet blingy types!! The clyds and the cob should be the flat hunter types bridles!

The heavy style horses always look best (and should really) been shown plain flat brow and nose bands. It looks really smart once plaited up etc (or hogged wit hthe cob)

The Tb being a bay will take nearly any colour velvet band! but he is the only one that should have the velvet

NO BLING ON THE HEAVIES!!:)

It often depends what classes you enetr. If you are enetering a 'Best Riding horse class@ on a reasonabley light horse, then yes a coloured browband would be welcomed,
However, i dont think you should put one on your heavier horses, like you say, treat them as hunters.
Tips,
Stay relaxed, and enjoy yourself. Your horse(s) will pick up any nerves.
Keep your Individual show short and accurate.
Quality is better than quantity

Forgot to say they are all inhand classes, coloured, veteran and ex racehorse. I know the TB and Clydie will be plaited up but the cob isn't hogged. He will be going natural as it has taken me ages to grow his feathers properly over the last 3 years since we got him as his legs were in a state with the effect of mites and mud when we first got him.

Ok well, make sure you stay at the horses shoulder, and keep you 'trot'

at the same time as your horses.
Dont go behind a simaler looking horse and TURN THE HORSE AWAY when trotting for the judge-dont drag them round

When you stand up for the judge hold some grass so the horse pricks his ears

Pictures will be needed as well

Will treats also do though as well? As I know the TB pricks her ears for them and makes a fuss if you have them with you lol. I am hoping to get some pictures as it will be a nice day to remember I hope? Just hope the weather is not pants.

Hmm, If you can keep it discreet from the judge that might work too, or if you can trick you TB to think you have one in your hand that will probs work well too...
Lol, im hoping to do some showing this weekend, im no expert, most of this info wasinheritited from the good old tinternet.
In fact, go on google and type rehorse and go on their website-its fantastic and tells you everything about showing

Thanks for the advice Lucy and also to you Ellie. I did try pming you but it said you're not accepting them.
We did ok at the show which was a first for them all. Mcfly got 4th out of 11 in the coloured inhand. Meg got second in retraining of racehorse class. Only 3 in it though but winner was handed by someone who runs a riding school near me and the third has had her horse 12months. I've never owned/handled a tb ( ex racer) before and Meg was in such a state when I got her in Feb with lice and all that, that I think she did really well to finish where she did. Dougal didn't get anything for his efforts in the veteran class, which is such a shame as he looked fab as did they all ( and the professional pictures online are amazing). Considering it was their first time at a show. First time Meg has been off a yard since I have had her and we walked to and from the show with them ( 5 mile round trip) and had all the gear in a boot of car, unlike everyone else with their trailers or boxes, I thought we all did very well and I was really proud of the horses and my sharers too.
When we go again though I would prefer to box though as it was a nightmare trying to keep them clean as it rained when we led them there and at the show and the fields and entrances were so muddy
