I'm showjumping tomorrow and my mum has offered to take some pictures, she practiced on thursday and she was pretty bad, the horse isn't even in the shot sometimes.

My camera is just the standard digital ones but it doesn't have that feature where you can take lots of frames :( Any advice on taking pictures of him jumping?

Here are some of her attempts:

Thankyou in advance :D

I do this but the quality isn't very good even though we have a HD camera etc, the picture just isn't the same that you get from a camera, I might just stick to this though :)

pre focus and that will decrease the delay and take them a little more head on-it gives more scope - taking off and starting to land can look good at that angle.

Just push the button ;) :D

I find i have to get used to the camera first, get used to the delay the button has, then give a few practices, then you just have to remember the delay and go slightly early depending on the delay :)
like heres me getting used to the delay so i took it a bit late:

then i got the hang of it and:

On my camera to pre focus you push the button down a little bit so it focuses on the jump and saves time, then wait for the horse to appear and push the button all the way down :)

I also use the sport mode so a fast moving object won't appear blurry. You may need some time to get used to the camera and to see how long it can take from pressing the button to getting the photo.

Press the button half the way down so it focuses, then when the horse takes off, press the button down fully. So its already focused and ready to capture as soon as the button is pressed fully down.
