My gg has not been rode properly for the past 2 weeks due to me on holiday and bad weather really! I rode him last night round the village and we trotted all the way round twice! Is there any other things that i can do apart from riding him out and putting him out once a week in the field! The menage is having a new surface put down and will be out of action for about another 2 weeks + very slow at our yard! My stable is not fixed either from bad winds 2 weeks ago! i know it is a bit of a daft question to ask but there must be other things i can do to keep him busy through the day and also riding wise!

no the fields are very bad at the mo he goes in a muddy field once a week to stretch his legs and have a play with his pals! Not ideal really but i like the yard i am on and normally he would be being schooled a lot through the week!

have you tried lungeing him? I know it's hard with fields being wet but it would probably help to have more turnout. Even an hour a day, or every other afternoon is better than nothing. Have a word with your YO and see if it would be possible to negotiate more turnout.

i think you must have a very quiet horse lucky you,if i dont ride lunge or turn out daily my mare would be like a cork ready to pop! i think now the nights are getting slightly longer you should try to give your horse at least half an hour legstretch, dont think it will do him alot of good nt riding him for 2 weeks then trotting him non stop you dont want him getting tied up! also watch out that he does not get filled legs, standing in for days on end, if it was me i would have to make sure he got a little time each day, even if its just a 15 min walk. good luck.

I dont trot him all the way round we mainly walk but he does need some trot work as he is full of it and i am gentley bringing him back into work!He does get out everyday for either a walk or a little play in the tiny turnout with one of his friends! I would never leave him stood in the stable for days on end! How cruel would that be! At the moment his feed has been cut to nearly nothing handful of hifi and half a small scoop of conditioning cubes! He has apples and carrots to but they dont affect him in any way! I juust needed some ideas on what to do to with him instead of riding out every day! bad for legs on concrete every day!
