If you are really worried, ask a proper vet to look at him and advise you. This chiropractor may or may not know what he/she is talking about.

Your horse just looks like a chunky cob type to me - certainly not significantly overweight. Lots of cobs are very round and need a wide-fitting saddle - doesn't mean they are overweight; it's just their build.

He looks like to be crossed with a gypsy cob. He looks to be a typical gypsy cob shape to me, very similar build to my lad and the mare I had.

I would not say he is over weight. My mare was 15 hands and had the same size saddle and girth as yours and a similar build and was extremely fit and trim.

If you are used to TB types then yes you would think he is overweight but cobs are build to be chunky and have an apple bum.

As you say, he is young and needs to build up muscle and you may find he will bulk out more but just make sure it is muscle and not fat.

If this helps, this is my lad who is a gypsy cob, 15 hands and is 3 in this pic. My vet said he is an ideal weight for his age. I expect him to fill out a lot more with time.

I don't think you have much to be worrying about. He looks to be a lovely chap.

Are you sure you weighed him correctly? He doesn't look anywhere near that overweight to me!

Ditto - no way the horse in that picture weighs that amount; I think you might have used the weight tape incorrectly.

Doesn't look over weight in the pic, my horse is 14.3hh and a chunky Welsh cob and weighs about 510kg and is a little overweight so I doubt yours weighs over 600kg. He's lovely though
