I am going away tomorrow for a week with work just been to say bye to my horsey and she doesnt seem herself. She hasnt ate her feed or hay from this morning and has the runs. She ate her hay and feed last night and had drunk normal amount of water.

She looks quite tucked up as well. But seems alert enough and temp is fine, any ideas?

YO is a vet however she is away til Tuesday.

Other liveries are pretty knowledgable I just dont think I can go if she is ill, I am going to nip back up now to take her pulse. I was planning on OH looking after her , he knows what he is doing as far as feeds, mucking out etc goes but hes not knowledgable on colic/health etc

Just been to check on her shes still not eaten , her pulse is 39.

She seems alert enough. There is building work going on behind her stable and she seems jumpy- wondering if she is simply stressed out. Will go back in a couple of hours.

If she has still not eaten then would you monitor or get vet?

Just checked on her again, she has eaten some of her feed but still not touched her hay. Changed the hay incase there is something wrong with it.

I have since found out a hunt passed by today and she was stressing out.

Been to check AGAIN, stilll not eating hay but she has eaten some of her feed and drinking.

Back leg is slightly swollen and she is still tucked up, when i touched belly she was threatening - which is not normal.

Reluctant to call vet at this time of night as she seems perky and took apples and carrots. Will see how she is in morning.
Think is in pain somewhere, perhaps been running about mad in field and hurt herself. Felt like bringing her back to sleep in living room poor baby

Thanks for asking,

Just back from stables. I have found a tiny punture would on the inside of her back leg ( feel like such a bad mother for not seing it yesterday) her leg is quite swollen but she is not lame and no heat.
She is also eating again.

Cleaned the wound, put aloe gel on leg and magnet boot, and given her one bute.(discussed with vet friend first) She is out in the field looking happy and although still a bit tucked up not as bad.
Poos also back to normal.

Been scouring the field to try and find what she cut herself on but cant find anything and its high up and on inside of leg which is a bit weird.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Horse came in with a nasty injury to the top of his leg a couple of days ago. We couldn't work out what it was...didn't look like a kick. Went up to the field and found a big rusty bent pole thing right where they roll

God only knows where it appeared from as it was big and would've been noticed quite easily when horses are brought in.....mystery.

I hope your horse is feeling a bit more well and you can establish what caused injury
