I'm considering putting my horse up for share/full loan from October-June whilst I focus on my last year of uni, and for the right person they could continue on after I've finished uni. However I'm so worried the right person isn't out there for him. He's 17hh TBxShire, he's such a relaxed friendly guy, he's 7 but was started late so more like a 5y/o, he's got tons of potential, and is bred to event, he's very smart on the flat and has got a fair jump in him, I want him to start his competitive career and any capable sharer/loaner could be a part of this, but he's a sensitive chap, he needs someone who is calm and confident, preferably with a competition experience, he hacks well but pretends to be nappy occasionally, it's very half hearted and he's never 'won'

I'd want him to stay at his current DIY competition centre which has the best facilities, 4 arenas, BD and BSJA competitions on a weekly basis.

But is there anyone out there that would take on a horse on DIY and be professional enough to help produce him? If it was a share they could ride 3-5 times a week and would be expected to much out on the days they rode plus pay £125 a month to cover costs of feed, hay, straw, shoeing. Or on full loan they'd have to pay everything except insurance.

Oh I don't know, sorry for rambling, just really confused over what to do.

Why don't you start off sharing then if all goes well, work up to a full loan?

I have had a sharer since the start of the year as I was struggling to make time for university. I have to say, it's the best thing I could have done. I am pretty fussy about letting people ride/look after my horse, but my sharer is great and I could not fault her on anything.

My sharer usually does a few days a week, but during more stressful periods (essays and exams) she might do up to 5 days.

One thing I would say though, is that you might not find exactly what you are looking for. I'm not saying you won't find the perfect person, but be open minded. Good luck!

Well there are suitable people out there, a friend rides a 14.1 pony that was too much for their daughter and has brought him on to compete at BE100 as she has insufficient funds/time to have one completely to herself just yet. She has a history of jumping her horse up to fox etc so very capable :) (she is enjoying riding a pony though even if her legs are a bit long!).

Why wouldn't they pay insurance on full loan? I've had two horses on full loan and paid for everything

that sounds like a brilliant deal - if your in cheshire let me know :D

to ride/compete a horse is something a lot of people would want....i know id compete every weekend if i could!...

£125 a month is reasonable for part loan too :)
