hi all

I have never owned a set of clippers and have once had a go at clipping when shown by my sister. However, I am thinking of taking the plunge and clipping my new boy, to start with just his feathers as they are a bit coarse and look a lot better kept trimmed. Also in due course my youngster will need clipping as he is a Curly and when he starts working he will get far too hot!

Any advice on whether its a good idea to have a go myself and if so what clippers to get. I much prefer the idea of cordless as I am very cack-handed and having to deal with a lead at the same time rather phases me!

thank you in advance...

Thanks Highlands! Website looks great and I am anticipating an hour or two of happy surfing. thanks for the tip about the fleece too. I have a pair of jods that attract every hair and straw on the yard so will leave those at home as well! :)

I have the Moser Avalon ones, they're great and really quiet. I just shove the battery pack inside my jacket and clip away. Clipping feathers is easy just make sure you do it down the way to avoid baldy legs! Just make sure you don't get carried away. Good luck :D

i have advice!
make sure you chalk out the area you want to clip first so that you don't get carried away or clip off too much, secondly, practice first on a small, unseen part of your boy, such as the belly. also, TAKE IT SLOW too many people rush in and do a bad job, you can finish it off the next day if you run out of time! lastly, start by doing a simple clip, even if your lad needs a different one, such as a bib or a trace. finish this of, then you can do some more another day, its better than only clipping one side, running out of time, and then having to ride a half clipped horse! at least then you can finish it off another day or even another week!
