Aleeta is going to the Royal Vet College on Monday for the above. I got in the post today instructions and requirments for her. Its states that her legs must be kept in stable bandages overnight and remain in them until her appointment on monday. Firstly can anyone explain why? Secondly she lives out so would a set of turnout boots be ok? Obviously I would have called the RVC but being the weekend I can't get an answer unless I press the button for - 'I have a horse stables at the RVC' if anyone on here can answer it saves me needing to do just that

Merlin had this done and wasnt asked to be bandaged..... so not sure why its necessary...

They do boot them up after the treatment so that urine doesnt splash on their legs... and these stay on for about 3 days.......

Sorry cant help more

Its ok I pressed button 2 on my phone - the option to use only if your horse is an inpatient - and got a very helpful lady that said its basically to keep their legs warm as the dye they use works best if their body is warm. Its not a huge issue as they are lunged prior to the dye being injected so she will be warm but I have been advised to turnher out in boots and bandage her legs uner her travel boots so this I will do....
I'm sooooooo nervous about leaving her there though. She's not handled by other people very much and can be a bit of a monster!!!!!!

Oh well.... you neednt worry about her being handled either..... they go into solitary confinement till the radio-active stuff is out of her system...... not even mucked out!!!!

And as soon as merlin was clear.... they shipped him back out to me
