After advice please!
Had my horse shod today by a new farrier. I noticed that the new farrier has not hammered the nails into the shoe.
I understand that sometimes the are not completely flush with the shoe but these appear to be extremely raised.
So my horse is technically walk on nailheads not the shoes? I haven’t seen this before. The farrier did not give any explanation for this and we did not notice until he left.
Does anyone know why he has done this? Is it common practice?
A bit concerned that he may injure himself on them as the are so sharp!
Thank you. Sorry for the rubbish picture.

It's common practice, they also give better grip on the road. They won't stay that high for long if you do road work, and if you don't they will just dig into the surface.

They shouldn't cause any issues, ime, though those certainly are a bit big. He might have run out of smaller nails, perhaps.
