Hi guys
Not a new user - just a change of identity!
My 7yr old gelding has recently started to behave really badly when out hacking but only with mares. He is fine to hack on his own or with other geldings.
I took him out yesterday and it got dangerous. He is used to traffic and has always been fine but jumped out into the middle of the road when a car came past, luckily no one got hurt and I smacked him a few times but it didn't seem to make any difference and he continued to do it 2 further times.
In the end we put him on the inside and got off the road asap. He has also started bucking when cantering if behind another horse, again I get his head up, give him a smack and send him on.
He has always been the type of horse to try his luck and this just seems like his latest trick to me like he is 'showing off' for the girls. Has anyone else had experience of this? I'm normally confident but yesterday did worry me!
