Well had the boy for 6 days. The first five he has been great we have been building our relationship and he even came up to me lots of time yesterday when I was in the field with them.

BUT tonight I went to get him out of the field and he got his lead legs, it took a while to get him out of the field but I eventually got him out. I then stroked him on his front and back - hes still quite nervy then tried to lead him further and he stopped dead! After my being nice then getting a bit cross - he moved forward for a few paces. As I did not have my hard hat on I didnt do anything risky so I tried to put him back in the field and he would not move, so with the help of a bolshy mare in the next paddock he went back into the field.

So what do I do. I was on my own tonight.

Help!!!

Id take a whip. . . . . . . .need to solve the problem fast and now before it becomes worse and dangerous.

Just sounds as if he was nappy about leaving his new friends. Just go out prepared next time with your hat, gloves, stick and a long line. If he gets rooted try moving him laterally sometimes helps to get through the brain freeze without provoking a fight.
