My lab aged 9 used to just bark in the car when we were going to her favourite walk but she has now started barking wherever we go. She starts about 100 yds from the yard or when I turn into the road for home or anywhere she thinks might be interesting. If I go to the supermarket she doesn't make a`sound. I have tried ignoring her and bought a sonic collar but that didn't work cos something in the car made it go off whether she was barking or not. Any tips please

Try a Citrus collar, or squirty water bottle...will wet the back of the car....but will clean up or crate her and cover it...so she cant see where u are going...lol

We got a rescue retriever in to home not so long ago, because the woman could not stand her barking in the car...and I used the squirty bottle it shut her up in 5 mins...lol
It might be best to take someone with u....cos I nearly wrote the car off...keep turning and to squirt her.....lol

I have the same problem but its easier for me to address..... I put Zak Mini-schnauzer in a cat carrying box and he cant stand up and see out of the windows..... Instant silence

Our dog barks alot and when it is at an inappropriate time we shake a bottle of stones.

It's just a small water bottloe with a few stones in it, but when you shake it, and say 'quiet' he immedaitely stops barking because the noise of the bottle has shocked him.

We're hoping that eventually we will just have to say 'quiet' and he wil shut-up.

Thanks I tried stones in a tin and it stopped her the first time but then she ignored it. It is odd because if she is barking in the garden and I say 'quiet' she stops immediately, but in the car she has selective hearing. I am going to try Cala's idea of water after making sure the back seat is covered with towels.
