Advice please scarcoid

Hi all i have just notice a scarcoid on my horse on his sheath i am now deciding what to do to treat has anybody tried the scar ex from Global Herbs ?
would be greatful of any advice ?
 
I am using the cream at the moment on a mixed sarcoid near my horses eye in conjunction with turmeric in his feed. The larger base sarcoid (like a thumb print) has gone and the small nodule has reduced in size. So far I have only used probably about 1/5 of a bottle. My friend used the powder and that got rid of hers in 2 tubs!
 
Hi thanks for replying what cream are you using ? did you friend use Turmeric powder ?

i was thinking of using that but was undecided as to what was good ?

Sarcoids are a type of skin cancer. Rubbing tumeric into a skin cancer is a bit like treating a forest fire with a watering can. Not effective and very dangerous. Im certain that Dr Knottenbelt has written an article about this somewhere, I know he is frustrated about the use of tumeric and colgate toothpaste on sarcoids. It can actually worsed the sarcoid and increase the growth rate.

It is the Global Herbs cream. I use turmeric in his feed as one of the contributing factors of sarcoids is low immunity and turmeric apparently boosts there immunity, if nothing else he likes the taste.

My vet advised me that they wouldn't treat the sarcoid as it wasn't causing any issues and was so close to his eye. Whilst I know Liverpool Treatment works in some cases it doesn't in all (I suppose like turmeric, tooth paste and the Global Herbs products.) The vets advised me that there are so many thousands of varieties of sarcoids and very little is still known about them, for this reason they don't like to mess with them unless they have too. Liverpool Treatment is an extremely harsh method and and I would only be prepared to use this as a final measure.

I don't believe my friend used turmeric, just the powder. She was advised to use this by the vet.

Edited to add. My horse is quite sensitive both in skin and sole and he allows me to put the cream on everyday with no isse at all. He didn't even have any distress or discomfort when the top of the nodule dropped of about a week after treatment started.
 
Be careful how u go with this I tried turmeric on a sheath one just in his feed and it fell of around oct time and I thought great it worked, this year I have 5 more!! Should have just gone to vet for the one and caught it while small and treatable 👍
 
I'm having a great result with sarcoids healing using Sarc-ex. If it isn't the sarc-ex, then it's a huge coincidence because the timing is spot on.

I have just started (a week ago) on Sarc-ex for my mare and a few sarcoids have come up since her vetting.

My vet has take photos of them to send to Liverpool - I would never use alternative medicines externally on scarcoids unless advised by the vet

I've recently emailed Dr Knottenbelt. My horse had sarcoids 3 years ago when I got him. His previous owners paid for Liverpool treatment, some went but some didn't. The sarcoids were on the sheath, back legs and one on belly, Nodular and varicose but not massive. I spoke to my vets and we decided to redo the cream in winter, was coming into spring at the time. I put him on global herbs restore, just as a liver tonic, I noticed the sarcoids were changing after a couple of weeks, so when that finished got some more, the sarcoids were popping out. After 2 months they were mostly gone, leaving one varicose on his belly. That one was a pain, I put Colgate duraphat as it was recommended by a vet due to having high levels of fluoride. The sarcoid dropped off and he has been clear for 2 years.
I randomly decided to let Dr Knottenbelt know how they went on my horse and interested as to why.
The short of the response was that if something kicks off the body thinking there is a problem the body it's self can treat. So something out of that kick started the body into killing the sarcoids.

It it's small you can give something a go but if angry best getting vets advice
 
OP - how do you know your horse has sarcoids? Have they been diagnosed by a vet? I would be very careful "treating" them when I didn't know for sure what they were.
 
My horse has a ew sarcoidosis which weren't causing her any problems. They've been seen by the vet and I was advised not to treat as they weren't causing problems.

I've been using sarc ex for a couple of months and the sarcoids are definitely receding. Could be luck, but the sake of the £60 the 2 tubs of sarc ex cost I think it's worth a punt (assuming the sarcoids are not causing immediate problems or discomfort).
 
Just as a longer term prospective, my friend who had success with her horse, she used it a few years ago and hasn't had any return despite taking him off it. He became a very successful showing stallion.
 
I started my mare on sarc ex about a week ago, so I'm relieved to see positive feedback on here! She's absolutely riddled with them and her owner (she's on loan to me) has tried every veterinary treatment available. If they dropped off at all, they always grew back bigger and multiplied. Since living with me, I have tried to just ignore them and given her lots of turnout and worked on reducing her stress levels (she wasn't really turned out before and was pretty stress), and this has worked wonders and reduced the size of the sarcoids but not the amount. I made a deal with the mare that I would only try remedies that wouldn't hurt any more, as she's an old girl and she's been through the mill a bit. So, fingers crossed for sarc-ex!

Dr Knottenbelt is great. I emailed him about my horses eye as I was thinking of doing a self referal to a hospital to get it investigated further as I'd been told he had an epitheral layer in excess of what he should have over his cornea which could/would make him spooky as everything would be blurred. Because he was so spooky at the time I thought the referral would be the answer to my prayers. I didn't expect to receive a response back but not only did he respond, but he practically responded within about 3/4 hour!!!

Very nice man, who takes the time out to email random strangers who ask even more random questions! Love him! :)

Fwiw those close to the eye are not treated with liverpool cream but BCG injections.

I wouldn't mess with them and would take veterinary advice.
 
yes was seen by vet had loads of treatment but they come right back worse in the summer months so thought i would look for a supplement to feed to help keep at bay !
