advice please - shoes off or on?

Thanks Thatsmygirl - he could certainly come in at night if that might help. I have a feeling that he may end up being completely retired, (though my daughter is still hoping not) so want to think ahead for him. I'm happy to keep shoeing him if that's what it takes but honestly didn't expect him to be sore without his shoes.

My tb was footy for a good month before he grew thick sole.
When the shoes came off did the farrier trim his feet up? Which tbh wouldn't of helped. Some farriers are ******s with their tools.
If you can bring him in by night I would do that, dry his feet and treat for thrush esp in the grooves, even a tiny bit will make him footy and sometimes you can't even see anything.
But of course it's easy sitting here watching tv saying I would do this/that at the end of the day your the one seeing him and know just how he's moving.

Thanks everyone for thoughts and suggestions. It's been really useful. I'll try to plot the best way forward for him.

thatsmygirl - don't think the blacksmith did too much, I wasn't there but daughter was so will ask her. He's a good farrier so would tend to trust him.
