This could be long so sorry in advance
I have a 7 yr old TB mare that over the last few months has really pushed me to my limits. Would stand ina corner in the school and not move, ram me into the fence I have overcome these problems and now we are back on track in the school even managing a small jump in lesson on Monday.
She has had every sort of check poss and is all clear.
Just before the snow hit we went for a hack on a route we have hacked 100s of times with company. She has always tried to trot /rush down hills so I half halt and say no, sit tall and make her walk. She normally becomes a tad grumpy but sorts herself out. On this hack she tried to rush I halted etc and she throws a fit bucking on the spot. This happened on all the hills so in end I got of and lead her back as we where on a road with blind corners this is a very quiet road. Then snow hit so did not hack for a week or so. Yesterday I went for a hack same route with a friend walking beside me. Every time she tried to trot friend held her and we stood still then carried on she was not a happy mare!
So advice required please, should I hack her in company and try and keep her from trotting? Should I make her stand then walk on lots of times to help break the hill up? Any other ideas more than welcome
