Have never posted in here before so please bear with me.

I have an extremely cute West Highland White terrier who seems to be feeling his age at the moment (He is pushing 13) especially when going up/down stairs.

Does anyone have any recommendations on any supplements I could give him

Thanks in advance

Acupuncture has worked better than supplements for my dogs and one cat that has gotten acupuncture treatment this far. It usually takes between 4 to 10 visits to get a lasting effect, but then it lasts from 6 months up to about a year. The needles should be turned/twisted at least once while they're "in" before removal, for better result.

If you want supplements, I'd start looking for something with Glucosamine or Green-lipped New Zealand mussel. Together with acupuncture and/or supplements you could also always look into massage and/or stretching.

Joint supplement for him, also assess his weight and condition, make sure he isn't too fat. Check he is on a senior food, many now include glucosamine in their ingredients - I know Oscar Pinnacle of Life does, and they also do a completely gluten free version which may be appropriate to your Westie - PM me for more details.

Glucosomine is a must for joints, also take a look at John wellbegood, this also has Glucosomine already in it, also mix it with oily fish if the dog will eat it. Also lots of plent of short walks to keep the jionts supple and moving. Regular checks with the vet and also watch the weight too

Not heard of John Wellbegood - Do you mean James Wellbeloved? They do an excellent range of dog food containing glucosamine. Each of their ranges is specifically designed for age, size and breed. What about Canine Cortaflex? That works well on our horses and we have also taken it ourselves and found it made a difference. Weight is terribly important though.
