I have been to see a 5 year old mare today to look at to bring on to event. She is perfect ridden and just what I am looking for. However she has mild sweetitch which is controlled with a boett rug and a small capped hock. Would these things bother you? Would it affect her value significantly if i were to sell her on in a few years time?

The capped hock wouldn't bother me, assuming it doesn't bother the vet at vetting.

The sweetitch, although not a deal-breaker, I would be slightly more cautious of on an unproven horse. It could affect future saleability, especially if the horse doesn't turn out to be competative.
Be aware that sweetitch horses can vary in their degree of symptoms dependant on how they are managed and the local environment in which they are kept.

I wouldnt mind the capped hock but wouldnt want to buy a horse with sweet itch. So it could affect value in the future, although if a serious eventer with talent then won't affect value too much.

if she turned out to be a fab eventer than probably not. However sweet itch would worry me. Remember she might be ok at her current yard but sometimes it is worse a few miles down the road. it would also affect her value quite a lot if she was just an average eventer also no one would breed from her

Thanks for your replies everyone.
I think I am going to leave her as you are all right just hearing someone else say it has helped.
