i know i have had a good day today

but what i noticed when i was jumping was wilmas balance around corners and her head carriage

how do i help her land on the correct lead leg, as i am often finding myself tugging for a trot and asking for canter again

and around corners, especially as the course goes on i find she looks out alot, and no matter how hard i try get her to flex inwards around my leg and hand i cant do it, so we go round the corner with our head facing the wrong way... when trianing at home i often find when jumping an individual jump she does this, drops her shoulder and runs on through the shoulder sideways to the fence!!! often bouncing at the same time!!!

any tips would be great

always looking at one thing to improve each time i compete, so ive chosen this this week

position is getting better, especially if i approach properly and give with my hands more, control and turning is still hard, but were never going to be the neatest showjumpers, she is far to fast for it!!!

I would keep doing what you are doing about changing the leg. I have been taught to land, collect the canter and balance it, bringing him back to a trot and asking for a new lead. He has gotten quicker, and now i dont really have to do much, pop down from canter and he changes himself, it is second nature now.

Just keep going at it.

And for the corners. . . um. . . i dont know. . . flatwork would improve it, again, just practise.

thanks

but she gets such a move on in landing i find i am hauling from landing to the next fence for a trot transition, but im quite lucky she does the up transition quickly!!

Sounds like you need to get your brakes sorted first! How about insisting on a halt a few strides after the jump, and not attaching a second jump until you can reliably bring her back to any speed you want after the first jump?

As to landing on the correct leg, have you tried indicating to her the correct bend for the leg you'd like, while you're over the fence?

Good luck with sorting out her over-enthusiasm!

she doesnt actually go that fast anymore, i have got control; shes just strong to downwards transitions
mum said i should put more weight in one leg to get her to land properly???
