Advice please!

Exactly what I do with my native each winter, works really well, also being brutal with resticting all forage. He gets the muzzles off to but I just put it back on again. I am JOKING about the rugs by the way, love the fact that the french dont use them, supports my view that we use them too much here! ;)

No worries, I thought you were joking that's why I didn't comment on it ;-) (I got your English sarcasm!) :-)

For the muzzle he just waits for me to go home to then take it off...he never does it while I'm watching (of course not!)
Talked to the farmer today and he said he would put less hay but still ad lib unfortunately...and he will also put some hay from 2009 as it is not as rich as last year (apparently) I said not to put any hay in the evening if he notices there isn't much left as I'm sure that is when Bilto eats the most as he is on his own in the field!

Bit of a silly comment and hardly helpful. My native pony does not need a rug and all the New Forest ponies that live wild around me are doing very well unrugged and unfed.

Get real and a sense of humour!! I have a forest bred forester and have had them for years. He is unrugged, small clip, unshod. Its called irony!!
