I am looking for a new horse to loan/or loan with view to buy after having a confidence knock with my current horse.
I have spoken to a few different people and have 4 horses that I like the sound of. I want to view all 4 ideally and don't want to rush and none of these may be right but I have to start somewhere. I still have lots of questions to ask the owners but have some info as follows.
Horse 1 14hh 10 year old new forest Dun mare. Looks just like my old pony who I adored so I have a soft spot for her already! She has mostly hacked but is completely quiet ride hacks on her own, goes first or last in company and sounds like a sweet girl. The owner ideally wants to sell her but would possibly consider loan with view to buy.
Horse 2 16.1hh ISH 15 years old coloured. He looks fab has a massive jump, is well schooled, quiet and a total school master. I like the sound of him a lot but worried he might be too good for me. Hacks happily alone and in company. He is just up for loan, I am not sure about the possibility of buying in the future.
Horse 3 - 14.2hh Connemara chestnut gelding 15 years. He is an ex-show jumper looking for a quieter life after an injury to his leg caused by repetitive jumping, he is fully recovered now but they don't want to jump him anymore. Again quiet, safe schoolmaster type but he has never lived out before so may not cope with this. He is for loan or sale.
Horse 4 16hh ISH chestnut mare 15 years old. Has mostly been used for hacking at her current home but has done pony club etc. hacks on her own and in company. She is for a short term loan view to buy.
Shall I go and see all four. They all sound fab! I do prefer native types but maybe a schoolmaster would be better for me? I am happy just hacking and doing a bit of schooling but with the right horse I might like to push myself further.
I am going to get a list of questions together and call each one for a proper chat this weekend and hopefully can see them the following weekend as I don't have much time to travel around this weekend. I am tempted to squeeze a quick viewing of the nf tho!
