Hi my 4 yr old youngsters front tendons are always warm, soft and swollen after exercise, He isn't lame and they aren't painful to touch.
Does anyone have any ideas?, could it be concussion? etc.
I'm just worried about him developing bowed tendons, Its been suggested that I cold hose them for 20 mins after exercise which I've been doing, (someone even suggested wrapping his legs in bandages soaked in vinegar and leaving them on for 20 mins.)
But I'd like to know if anyone else has experienced this and whether someone may have an idea as to the cause.
He is ridden 5 x a week , I only have a paddock to school in and the ground is hard at the minute so its just been mainly walk and trot for 45 mins max twice a week, I then do two 45min hacks a week mainly at walk with short bursts of good trot and then one long 2hr 30 min hack once a week over varying terrain again mainly at walk with short bursts of good trot and only cantering uphill.
He is an Irish sport horse who is a little bum high so won't be fully matured til about 7 at a guess.
Hopefully the above makes sense, apologies if not.
Thanks xx
