Hi all I put a pony on lwvtb for 4 weeks lady brought him we went to see him he looked miserable but very well looked after & loved is a amazing home even though he looked miserable she had already paid me
She's called to say since we came up same day he's spooked (never even genuine spooked with us or whilst on lwvtb) & bucked her son off!! Twice & nephew another day she's rode him fine she said he didn't get tired but he's very fit anyway I'm so shocked! Day we went up there he bit my daughter left a huge bruise we had him years never spooked bit or bucked now I'm worried so is she I don't no what to say to her accept he was fine whist on lwvtb & with us as she agrees us it seeing us what's gone on? Feeling confused

Is he living with other horses, has his feeding, tack, turnout or riding schedule changed? Try to figure out what is different about his new home and that's probably the cause.

Should add spooking in a new environment is completely normal. He'll need time to adjust. It's the biting and bucking that needs to be explained.

There's probably nothing you have to do - if she had him for 4 weeks before buying hard to claim he was in any way 'miss sold'

If you want to help try and work out what's changed. A genuine and sudden change - 4 week AFTER a move suggests pain to me - so I'd get her farrier to check feet and vet to check the rest

I guess it depends on how much you like the pony. When I sold one of mine the owner was unhappy when he bucked and I offered to buy him straight back. He did buck like a monster when he warmed up over a practice fence, which I had told her, but then would settle to jump a course. She had not appreciated the humour of this horse, and was off put.

In fact when I straight away offered to buy him back she actually took courage that I was happy to do that, and stuck with it, and he became her horse of a lifetime.

I guess it also helped that I said to warm up over three fences, then he did not know what was next and then he would warm up fine. It was him winding himself up with .....it's there, it's there, it's nearly here, nearly, HERE...whoo whooo.

With a few fences up to warm up over he did not know if he was doing another straight after so was disciplined. I would not have left him there there though if she had not been happy. But, he was a family friend as well as a comp horse.

Yes he's living with 2 other geldings was in with 2 gelding with me too she said nothings changed since shes paid for him in the 4 weeks she's had him on lwvtb he was a angel, he reg goes on sane route never spooked (I don't no what he spooked at when he bucked her son off) but twice more without spooking he's not pony that will get out of work by doing that, I'd happily buy him back but what she paid me I brought another for my daughter so could no way he a optio n , I no I really have to do nothing as she had him 4 weeks before paying he was fine but I'd like to no the cause of why he's like thus since we've gone up I care very much for this pony not sure what to suggest to her :/
