hi when i lunge my horse he wont lunge on the right rein! and i dont understand y? he is great on the left goes lovley but when it comes to right he just stand there and to direct him to go the other rein but just stands there or turns in to me any advice please?

What's he like to ride on the right rein? Is he still reluctant in which case I would suspect there is something physically wrong & would suggest getting his back looked at or maybe teeth too.

Have you tried lunging with two reins, ie one either side so that you can turn him without stopping and then walk behind as if on long reins in very large circles and then gradually decrease to the normal size?
 
mine does (or rather...he did) this, nothing physically wrong, he's just pig headed!! It is his weaker rein anyway, but the turning in is so annoying.

So assuming there's nothing physically wrong with your boy...

...to get mine going I basically had to get cross everytime he turned in BUT I never once touched him with the lunge whip whilst doing this, so when I say get cross I don't mean I smacked him! I just shouted, growled and waved my arms and the lungeline like a crazy woman until he got the idea that he didn't want to turn into me, then got right behind him with the whip and asked him to trot round. I also find I have to stand slightly back from being level with his shoulder at the moment (whilst we are working through this anyway!)

thanks guys there is certainley nothing wrong with him iwll tell you that now lol! he is just being stubben as i thought in the first place anyway i will do you teqniue george and bex dix i just think he is being naughty and has got to use to doing it on the left rein! thanks guys mwahxx
 
How much lunging has he done?i may be well off the mark but maybe he needs taking back a step and taught again what it is your asking him - if he doesnt understand properly , getting cross with him will only confuse him further and make lunging him even harder!
