Hi,

For personal reasons i need to sell my horse quickly. I am already prepared to drastically reduce his price, as i know this will make it easier. Has anyone got any advice on selling to a dealer/ know of any dealers in the nottinghamshire area? Whats the protocol with that?

Alternatively if i advertise privately, how can i ensure that a sale is quick? As i would only be selling him that cheaply so he went quickly, but im worried that ill just end up letting him go for nothing whilst the buyer still takes as long as they like.

I would appreciate any advice with this difficult situation, as i am currently under great personal stress and would like this to be done as smoothly as possible! Please help!

xx

I don't think that a private buyer will necessarily take a long time to complete the process but that you might find that attracting a private buyer takes a while. I don't know your area but if you need to sell quickly, IMO you need to contact a dealer or take the horse to an auction.

do you know if you can set minimum prices at auctions? im not sure if i can handle it emotionally....sounds pretty grim! where would be a good place to find details of local auctions?

thanks for the advice

I'd go down the dealer route tbh. I've sold to a dealer twice and got a good price.

I don't know any up your way though. But experices have been good

Yes you can set a reserve. I'm afraid I only really know about auctions local to me, so can't advise you, except to say, make sure that you send the horse to a a warrented auction, where there should be 'a better class' of buyer, IYSWIM. I suggest that you PM 'S'teamed who has a good knowledge of auctions across the country and may well be able to advise you about a good one local to you.
Good luck!
