advice regarding green eyed monsters

This sounds like the work of a sociopath, be very careful. You can either A, punch her lights out and then probably get kicked off the yard anyway,or B, just move out of the way. I think if you do nothing she'll just keep doing more awful things.
Personally I'd give her one in the face for damaging a saddle of that value (assuming I was very sure it was her)
The YO will eventually be left with only one livery.... And then you will know for sure who the nutter is. I'd move, people like that really are toxic and will turn everyone against each other just for the fun of it, and they can be very convincing/manipulative.

Not advice just sympathy :( people can be so vile, how is it your fault that you have worked hard to afford nice things? But other people tend to suck :(

My new yard is lovely, and quite small, but I don't keep my good saddle there. You just never know what might cross someones mind.

I don't see why you should have to move, but if you don't how do you know they won't injure your horse? It's a horrible situation.

This has made me angry. Where do you live OP? If you need someone to support you I will come to your yard if you're close enough.

Ten years of custom to be treated like this? I don't think so. I'd be demanding that either the 4 suspects are kicked off, or free stabling until you find an alternative livery yard, and then transport.

Seriously, if you're in the north west and you want some support ill come and have words.

So little update, i went down to the yard last night and exlpained unless someone came forward and admitted they did it i would ask for the police to arrest the 4 people suspected. i had my suspicions as to who it was and judging by her reactions when i told her this, very jumpy asking lots of questions and even left the yard early. went home and asked her dad to ring the police to see if she would be arrested. This girl had guilty written all over her face. she sent me messages after saying i know im not getting arrested. not it wasnt me or i didnt do it just i know im not getting arrasted..

Ive decided to start looking for somewhere new as the attitude of the YO has just been disgraceful she hasnt even spoke to the poeple involved and i just dont think this is acceptable. The 2 girls i believe have done it have both taken their tack home now and no one else on the yard has and have bpth used a facebook page to ask for lockabale tack storage as their obviously worrid im going to return the favour by damaging something of theirs.

Im not sure whats others think but to me this just seems like guilty behavour. The police have been useless and havent even visited the yard like they said they would, and when i spoke with the investigating officer last night he explained they wouldnt be taking any further as they think the damage to the saddle is a manufacturing fault even though ive had 2 seperate opinions of saddle makers to explain this is no way a fault with the product and has 100% been knifed useless and uninterested. makes me wonder what i pay my taxes for. But at least in now in no doubt i know who did this. Thank you for all your advice and support its really nice to know this isnt normal behavour. I do feel like im on the one which has done something wrong when i visit the yard which isnt how its supposed to be unfortunately. :) finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel

Find somewhere new, then you can rest easy when you go home at night. YO not worth your money. They haven't won, you've chosen that they are not worth your company so are choosing to be with nicer people. You haven't been forced into it, but are choosing to move on.

But that was when the yard was broken into by an outsider, so their prints should have been nowhere inside the tackrooms. The person responsible in this case was permitted to be in the tackroom.
And OP, your local police aren't fobbing you off (I know you didn't suggest they were!), getting prints off a leather saddle wouldn't happen, you need hard shiny surfaces that don't absorb. And as they say, even if they did find a print on something, that person can just say, 'oh well I leant on it to reach something' and thats the end of your evidence.

Really sorry about your situation, your YO needs to man up!

Actually it was a blatently obvious inside job and we were clear with the police about that. A while later a person came forward who had witnessed our tack being wheeled off in a barrow (but didn't think it suspicious for certain reasons) and their description perfectly matched our suspect and his aunt.

This sounds like the work of a sociopath,

Ditto this.

I wouldn't worry too much about the police. Essentially in these straightened times unless they can guarantee a conviction they won't pursue. It would likely just be a caution for first offence and wouldn't cover the policing costs, not to mention the fact it would be almost impossible to proove. They also have to be careful about people using them as a vindicitive tool. How can they prove you haven't made up the claims to get people into trouble.. etc.

If there is someone there capable of this kind of thing, they are either young and spiteful or possibly as above. Either way you don't want yourself, your things or your horse around them. If they are the kind of callous concienceless person who could do that kind of thing they probably wouldn't react when confronted and would lie effortlessly to you face.

For what ever reason you have come under their radar. Don't interact, don't confront, don't get drawn in. Just leave as soon as you can.

I would make a prediction that this person is bullying and manipulating the whole yard, possibly the YO too. It'll go from bad to worse.
