I started my new job this week only a part time groom job the horses are not the easiest at all no manners at all bar one that I have fallen for she has the bestest temperament for a youngster, but anyway I have been texting the owner 'my boss' saying that they were running out of feed....feed arrived today by time I got up there tonight no note left nothing...OK.
however I text today to say that hay was very low and won't last the weekend and when will I be getting my wages as I am due to go away on Sunday for bro in laws birthday but without wages I cant, I have had no response from them for last 2 days now...am getting slightly worried that I won't be paid as it was a very odd set up to say the least...wasn't shown how anything works what the horses were like nothing...basically 'dumped' and to get on with it best way I know how really I am quite peed off about it all really, hard work I am not afraid of at all but to be treated (how I think) is appalling to be honest.

I do need the money but not that much...my back is really bad again too... (long term injury) so that's not helping at all :(

Still haven't heard anything from them either...just seems I am being ignored cos they know I am doing the horses...well if I don't get paid this weekend latest I won't be doing them.

what do you all think to this?...... (this is just a brief overview of accounts, but basically i've been left to get on with it).

ditto ladyt25 - phone them - texts are very easily ignored. Make it plain that they need to pay you and if they don't pay you by say the end of Friday, then you will not carry on doing the horses.

Do you have any kind of contract? You need to get your hours, duties and pay date set out in writing and signed by them and you.

As to feed and hay, do they have an account somewhere? Could you order the feed and hay and have it charged to them?

I have also tried calling...nothing.
No contract I was being a 'trial' for 2wks and she agreed to pay week by week.

I have no idea if they have an account anywhere the yard isn't really a yard...just some stables built in a barn part of a run down old farm not horsey at all...really not nice.

I was jubious about all this before I even started, I picked up on some of the things that were said to me when I went to see her the 1st time....

Edt - to say I am the only one there apart from farm owners....who also interfere with everything even though they know nothing about horses really.
I do this all on my own

It really does not sound good even if you do get paid. If the owners do not pay up once your week is finished then move on, in fact I would suggest you move on anyway as life is too short to waste on a job that is going to stress you out.

I started this week...there are other indications to all of this too but haven't mentioned as it would take far too long :(

The fact I have been away from horses for such a long time I have enjoyed being around them again and doing the whole mucking out thing.. :D I am mad I think!

All the other yard jobs I have done in the past I have been paid at the end of the week maybe it's all changed now?? haven't done anything like this for quite some time

You say you are a part-time groom, so someone else must look after the horses the rest of the time, can you go to the yard when they are due there and have a chat? Even better if the other person looking after the horses is your boss, the owner.
