i no your all going to think im stupid now but the amount of spiders taking over my lorry is becoming an issue!!!!
There i was driving happily down the road to norton heath for a lesson this eve and a HUGE and I mean HUGE spider started dangling in front of my face, my window was open so it was swinging in front of me.... (i dont like spiders, but i dont mind them around me, however i do HATE them being near my face!) so i started thinking well i cant slam the brakes on and i cant do the window up and i cant jump out so when it landed on my chin i painked and flicked it somewhere altho im not really sure where
tongue.gif
so all the way to and from NH i was so jumpy and didnt really give the poor ned the best of rides!!!!
any ideas how to de spider my lorry??? considering we have been away competing and living in it the last three weeks it shouldnt be that bad surely!
do u all think im a wimp now?

You're defo not a wimp!! ive had a similar thing happen to me and i ended up having to pull over and get out to jump up and down!! (the spider was in my lap!)
As for de-spidering i dunno.. buy a new lorry maybe!!??

Dear GOD in Heaven reading your post has given me a rising panic...I can remember years ago driving my first car (Fiat Uno doncha know) and a mahoosive spider crawled out the dash...I threw the car in the hedge and jumped out. Obviously not an option in the lorry, but good grief well done you for keeping calm.

UGH!

I will be worrying at the weekend now...!!!! Please someone come on and tell her how to get rid and I will do the same just to be safe!!

similar thing happened to me when driving my car although it was actually on the other side of the glass so at the traffic lights i got my passenger to get out and shift it.

So no your not a wimp at all !!!
it would have been highly likely that i would have had an accident if id have been in your situation.

the only thing i can suggest is an occasional hoovering of the nooks and crannies in your cab.

if you want to live and thrive let a spider run alive; failing that go to your vets and ask for acclaim household flea spray kills anything that crawls . after using, hoover them all up

spiders do not like the smell of citrus fruits, esp oranges. You could rub some around doors etc! and yes i have done this before

Reading your post made me feel sick and you are sooooooo brave! i'd of fainted. Also they do not like conkers so you could also place these all over the place!

Dear god I'd have had a heart attack. And we all know they won't hurt you Tiffany but if you have a phobia, logic doesn't come into it. Take care relying on Acclaim too - flea sprays work on the metabolism of insects - spiders are arachnids and their metabolism works differently. I remember years ago, emptying an entire spray can of fly killer onto an enormous house spider at the top of the wall where it meets the ceiling. Scout's honour, the only thing that happened is that I almost killed my cat as it sat UNDERNEATH the spider (AND fly spray) hoping that the lovely scuttly thing would drop onto the floor where he could kill it. Spider was unharmed, cat needed emergency veterinary attention for paralysis from the fly spray.

One thing that does work is a hoover with mega sucking power and a long attachment. You stand at arm's length with hoover at full blast and point the suction thingy, screaming at the same time helps. Probably best not to use a Dyson with a clear dust tank as you'd probably see the spider scrabbling around trying to work out how to flip the top open and get out and SEEK REVENGE.................................aaaaghhhhhh!!!

LOL box of frogs.... i only own a dyson!!

im so pleased im not the only whimp out there!! michelleice i will try that as soon as i feel brave enough to go to the lorry!! im sure its hiding some where :P

i do hover my lorrys nooks and cracks quite regularly but the ****ers still find somewhere to hide and wait for me...

off to visit spiderex!!

Chestnuts are supposed to keep them at bay, or chestnut oil. I threw a handful of chestnuts into my shed last year. I don't mind spiders, but I do dislike walking into a face full of cobwebs every time I want my mower.

The chestnuts seemed to work, as I did have a small population, but none of the big buggers that wear boots

i love spiderex!!! altho i wished it showed the spray actually killing a spider!!! im so ordering some of that!!! thanks guys! i'll let you no if it works!!

Its making me itch thinking about it, sorry no useful advice but I feel your pain, you were brave being able to do that, not sure what I've of done
crazy.gif
I'm terrified of them.

pmsl I have a "pet" spider in my lorry
grin.gif
He lives behind the sun visor and dangles down occasionally as we drive along
cool.gif

I am very careful not to hoover him up when I clean the lorry, and on PSV test days he goes in a matchbox so no nasty man in overalls can squash him, and back home afterwards

(I'm not entirely sure it is the same spider, because it would be awfully old by now ...

LOL!!

Do you think Spiderex will work in my stable, in particular on my rugs that hang over the railings. Once they haven't been used for a few days, I'm scared to touch them and have to get yo to de-spider them.

rowreach i dont think i'd like to ever get in your lorry!! i wouldnt be able to contain my self from killing it!!! i also think you are a bad influence giving spiders hope at a time where they are clearly taking over the world....and as for all you spider lovers that say they keep fly number down this is a LIE coz fly's are certainly not decreasing in number
frown.gif

I am also really scared of spiders but I do find it funny how we are terrified of a tiny, non harmful insect yet think nothing of our potentially life threatening horses!

NeilM - do you have to aim carefully and throw the chestnuts at the spider or have I misunderstood lol x

No silly, it's the chestnut OIL that they don't like, although being squished with a spikey chestnut is obviously going to do the job.

As for the comments about house spiders living twelve years. Not in our house when the OH is about with her Dyson. Poor b*ggers don't stand a chance!

spiders definitely avoid from conkers, so have a few conkers around the place.
i keep spiders all over my house, i'm paranoid and hysterical about flies (disgusting filthy things, landing on poo and then food or something) so the spiders are my Private Army against flies. sometimes they get a bit too big (if i mistake them for mice) so then they get gently escorted outside. i am not really batty, honestly...
don't kill them, they're lovely really, and none in the U.K. are big enough to bite you, their teefs are too small.
wink.gif

QR.. get some Raid for crawling insects and give your cab a blast..... then leave all the windows open for the smell to go
smile.gif

If you do this once a month, you will be spider free
