As the title suggests.

Dolls has had an intermittent snotty nostril for a few days. It's not always snotty but when it is it just runs.

This morning when I turned out it was quite clear, but in the afternoon when I brought in it was a little cloudy, still runny.

She's not coughing, a little less energetic than normal. I rode this evening & she didn't have as much energy as normal.

How long should I monitor before contacting the vet? Anyone got the same symptoms?
With this cold weather my nose is constantly dripping, so it it just the bitterly cold weather?

check that her gland aren't up...under her chin, where the throat lash goes...and take her temp....over 39..get the vet...it could be this very unpleasant "strangles type" virus that seems to be doing the rounds.

Glands are fine so far. She's not been off the yard since she arrived a yr ago & although there are some new horses, none are in or near her field. That's part of the reason I'm not panicking.....yet.

i'd still take her temperture because other horses in her field could have been off the yard, of some one whos how could carry it, then comes up to got your and strokes it.

its always better to be safe than sorry, she could just have a cold and be a bit under the weather. if you worried there is no harm in ringing the vet to speak to them.

I might be wrong, but I'm sure that snot coming from one nostril can indicate a sinus infection? (Please correct me if I am wrong!) My mare had a sinus infection a couple of years ago, but the snot was thick and yellow, and she was a bit subdued with it too. She also had a temperature. The vet gave her antibiotics and sputolosin, which cleared it up a treat.

Seems to be a lot of 'nasties' going around at the moment.

just keep her warm and take her temperture twice a day put her on a pick me up tonis see how she goes for a few days if no better get vet if temp is up by 0.5 more than it should be get vet straight away!
