advice wanted, appaloosa's spots.

Our appaloosa has a terrible coat at the moment and is thin in parts, mainly across his back. It appears that because of the terrible winter and the warming up/going cold weather he has shed his winter coat before his summer one is fully through. I would imagine that if your friend's horse has a typical appaloosa coat then this is the same thing and nothing to worry about. I am expecting Streusel's coat to be back to normal in a few weeks.

Cropi's coat also goes a bit weird sometimes. In the winter her white base is a lot thicker than her brown spots and in the summer spots have finer hair, she also has two or three thinner spots of hair at the moment on her back (her saddle fits perfectly) and I'm getting a lot of 'dandruffy' type out of stuff out of her coat when I groom.

I wouldn't worry too much, use a little thicker saddle pad and as long as she is not worried by them just keep an eye on them, its not unusual :D
