As a totally new member to this forum, I don't want to be accused of advertising, but I am in desperate need of some advice from showjumpers regarding a horse I have got. Basically, due to my serious ill-health, I am being forced to sell my 4 yo 16.3hh AES gelding who is hopefully going to prove to be a real superstar in the sj world. Unfortunately I have been out of the sj scene for a number of years and therefore have no idea of his value or where to advertise him etc. and would appreciate anyone who can help me with advice. Therefore if anyone can be of help to me, I would really appreciate it if you could PM me where perhaps I can then furnish you with further details of him rather than doing this over the forum pages. Many thanks. If I don't answer back my messages immediately, it will be because I am due to undergo further surgery any day now.

Well, is he 4 this spring or is has he been in his 4th year since last year ? Has he been out and done anything at all yet ? What has he done, if anything ?

Seriously, no-one can put a price on him on the basis of the description you have given above, and on what basis can you say he is going to be a real superstar of the sj world ? What experience do you have of producing 'superstars' and to what level

Please don't take this the wrong way, but everyone with a 4yo by a graded SJ stallion believes they own the next Arko.....but in reality, very few do

If you have pictures you can post, or even better some video of him jumping, then all the better...

I totally agree Rambo, and I include myself in that list but of course mine IS going to be a superstar so won't be selling him!

However if he is nicely mannered and well put together and going nicely you could ask anything betweem 6-8k as that is what people seem to ask these days, I don't know what they actually get though.

Hi Rambo, sorry if you thought I was being vague, but after seeing so many members blatantly advertising their horses, I didn't want to do this, that is why I gave a very brief resume of the horse and asked for serious sj people to contact me by PM in order for me to furnish full details. Surely if I'd put exactly what he was and what he'd done etc, I would have been inundated with complaints. As it happens, quite a number of the members actually read what I meant, and contacted me directly, of which I am extremely grateful. And yes, I have produced "superstars" in many disciplines, but as I said, I've been out of showjumping for a number of years and that is why I valued constructive opinion from others reading this forum. I'm sorry if my posting read wrong to you.

You could also rename your post "how much" and not mention he's for sale! Loads of people do "how much" for their horses. I did one a few months ago for my horse as I wanted people opinions on his value for insurance reasons! You shouldn't get slated for that

I agree....How much posts are pretty much a way of life on here lol!

I find them highly amusing in the main, as even with the detailed descriptions people often give, the valuations vary from the sublime to the ridiculous !

I really don't understand how anyone can put a price on any horse without at least seeing it move and preferably in the flesh...

Thanks Magic Melon and Rambo for your suggestions. As I said I am new on this site, and sometimes read newbies being slated by some of the more established members for advertising and didn't want to start off on a bad foot. Thankfully have had a number of members communicate personally with me now and have gained an idea of what to do with my boy. Thanks again.
