Hi,
I have written on here before about my boy's scabby legs, and although they have improved they don't seem to be healing.
We first thought it was mud fever, but then decided it was mites. He's been treated with Frontline and is no longer itching. He has scabs on the backs of his front legs (in particular behind his knees), small scabs in the inside crease of his back legs and some scabs on his back legs below the hocks. I was advised by the YO not to put any creams on, except Wondergel, and I have been bathing in diluted Hibiscrub once or twice a week. Every other week I've given them a thorough shampoo with Hibiscrub. The scabs are not going!
I think I may get the vet out to have a look this week, but what do you think?
He's not very good at having them touched, getting the Wondergel on is a bit of a trial!

My horse had this, but also had a bad infection with his, we couldn't clear the infection until the scabs had gone. I sent him into the Newmarket vets and they did the following. Clean and lightly scrub the legs with hibiscrub - you can use diluted or neat but rinse thoroughly. Completely dry the legs, then plaster the affected area in Sudocrem, get some plastic to wrap around the leg (not clingfilm or anything tight), then gamgee and bandage.

Check following day that nothing is too tight and bandages haven't slipped and repeat as and when is necessary (every 2 days or so - depends on if he gets sore) the scabs will soften and come off easily.

If he is sore and it isn't too easy to get the sudocrem on him get loads on each hand and just run hands down leg fast - this should then be able to cover the majority of scabs and he will soon feel the soothing effect.

Thanks lochpearl. Appreciate the advice. xxx
Had the vet out today that's given me some iodine to wash them off with (yellow legs ahoy!! lol) and also said about the sudocrem. I'll give it a try.
Thanks again.
