Hi i have just found out that my loan pony has fat pockets and ha previously been known to have laminitis i was just wondering if anyone has any advice on anything i need to do

Quite possible that the pony has metabolic issues if fat pads are present. I would rule that out firstly, then your vet can advise you on what you need to do going forward.

Ask your vet to test for it, then you’ll probably need to look at the horses diet. Eliminate all sugar, soak hay and feed 1.5% of body weight daily to achieve weightloss. This is the advice my vet gave to me when my pony had EMS related laminitis

Soak hay restricted grazing especially in spring regular good exercise really helps, so can adding magnesium oxide intra labs sell it cheap.

Ye im restricting grazing so she stays in all day and goes out at night im doing hacking regularly just walking as we have alot of hills she doesn't have any food while shes in only a small bit of hay but ye

Update we have decided to keep her in at night instead and out for a few hours in the day

Soak hay, up the exercise and if the grazing is really good either set up a track (Fence inside the boundary fence) or muzzle. Also really recommend feeding magnesium it helps with weight control in Spring.
