With horse prices through the roof just now (and worrying not appearing to be going down anytime soon!) I was looking for some opinions. My daughter is currently at uni so would not have time for a horse for another 3/4 years but I can’t decide whether I should,
A) buy a well bread foal this year so by the time she has graduated it would be ready to start being produced
Or
B) wait another 3/4 years and buy a 4ish yo and hope the prices are not astronomical!
Any advice/ experiences people have had on the same issue would be much appreciated. ?

Definitely wait. Your daughter may have lost interest / not have enough time once she has finished uni.

it will cost a decent amount of money to keep a foal and get him/her backed with no guarantee that it will turn out to be what your daughter wants.

Even if my daughter ended up losing interest I would just produce the horse and use it as my own.
Also, does anyone think the market will go down eventually??
I just cannot justify 10K+ for a just backed 4yo so see a foal as a long term cheaper option??

Save up all that money that you would spend on keeping the youngster and instead have a healthy sum ready in the future.
