My little BT x came in with a huge amount of gluey gunk on his lips/teeth/gums this evening. It was awful!! I didn't know if it was coming out of him, glue, hair gel?? Got him cleaned up and it seemed to be of external influence and non inside his mouth, so thought I'd let him lead me too it (apparently he wanted more!!), it was a MASSIVE snail, he'd crunched up the shell so it just looked like a big fat slug.

Are there any immediate effects I need to look out for? What about lungworm? He seems a bit quiet now but think I'm probably just being paranoid.

Help!

ETA: Sorry for advise instead of advice! Can't work out how to change it!

Not sure if there are any effects from them eating snails but you do have to be very careful if the slugs/snails have eaten any slug pellets. This can be dangerous if the dog eats those!

Contact your vet and ask about advocate wormer. It's only available from the vet and as far as I know is the only prevention for lung worm

Perhaps, for the future, think about a small muzzle for the wee chappie when he's out if unsupervised......just in case he develops a taste for them!
