after many months of shall i shant i, i have finaly decided to sell virama. no loans or shares or get another rider in (which i have all concidered)

She is being moved to markfield EC to start BSJA BN/Dis.
so how much?
16.3hh , 5yrs mare. KWPN by Harcos (Narcos 11 - olympic SJ)
mum did grand prix and is by bredero (no idea about this stallion, all info welcome!)
jumping 1m courses at home has cleared 1.40m loose schooled.
flat work just started comming onto bit, and lateral work. i have never used any gadgets on her, that includes side reins, draw reins etc. she doesnt even wear a running matingale for flat work.

she dishes very slightly on nearside fore, and her nearside hind is waeker that the offside (however i am seriously nit picking here, as most horses are weaker on one side)
other than that she has good conformation.

She has done nothing, in fact her first competition will be the BN next week. she has been brought on slowly and correctly and given 6 months with a good rider will go straight to Fox level after completing her 4 double clears at BN and Dis.

has got good paces so would event.

Ok so how much.......????????????
I'm thinking of £6,450 with made to measure SJ saddle and tack? to sell at around £6k?
problem is as she hasnt done anything is this too much? despite the fact that she is a seriously good horse, with olypmic breeding?

My sister is putting a website together to put lots of photos and videos and information on her, so people can see exactly what she is like before comming to see her. is this a good idea?
 
I think that sounds a reasonable price.

I think you are jumping your guns a bit saying she will be doing fox level after her DC's BN!

Must admit the straight to Fox level after BN/Disco made me raise my eyebrows too.

However, sounds very nice horse and would say the price was about right

i have been producing horses for 15 years. I dont ever wait untill the horse is out of a class. This is a weekend riders way. the proffessionals get the double clears and move on.

This is exactly like the HOYS fox final. A year ago these horses were jumping Fox's now most of them are grade A and internationals.

just coz she doesnt have the milage doesnt mean she cannt do the job. Jump a million rounds at home over different courses and keep your money in your pocket. then go to a show and go straight round.

the atmosphere may phase her a bit, but she will be ridden in the collecting rig a few times before competing.

Rossets are won at home, never at a show, thats just where you go to get "judged".
besides she can do 1.20m standing on her head.
 
The price sounds fair to me, but I think if she had even a couple of DCs at BN just to prove she can cope in the environment it would help your case. You obviously know your own eye for a horse, but a buyer knows nothing about you, all they have is your word that she will do it and a lot of horses are sold with "potential" as their selling point at the moment.

Im putting together a web site with lots of videos of her jumping, she may not have a competion record but hopefuly they can see with their own eyes what she can do, even if they are not quite up to it themslefs.
 
I think that once she has a BSJA record that sounds entirely reasonable price wise. However I would want to see DCs at BN and first round clears Disco. I think a lot of horses are well over-priced at the moment and that you have a much better idea of what is actually selling than some people, who have an over-inflated idea of what their horse is worth!

Didn't you say she's only jumping 1m courses though? There is a big difference between jumping a 1m course and a 1.20 one!

Fair do's to you though - you know your horse and I don't. if you think she will be doing fox level fairly soon would you not be better keeping hold of her a bit longer? you could get a lot more for her then.

this is my problem. i used to jump at open level with 5 horses for a bloke called fred Ellis. About 6 years ago i came down with glandular fever and kept falling of the horses half way round the course. i even took them back down to Bn level but still couldnt manage it,. In the end the BSJA banned me untill i had a doc report.

I gave up riding. 6 years later i decided to give it another try as my health seems to be sorted now. or thats what i keep trying to tell myself.
today i managed to ride her round a 3ft course before starting wobble. i dont have the strength which is why she has done nothing. aside from the fact that i dont take horses to shows untill they are ready.
She was ready to affiliate this spring and would be doing fox now, but i just cannt mannage it. I have advertsied for riders to compete her for me, but whats the point? half of them cant ride let alone produce her.
she can be very sharpe and although she isnt strong she can be a madam.
im kidding i will ever be able to jump again. flat work seems to be ok so maybe i will give dressage a go?
she deffinatly isnt a pure dressage horse. she loves her jumping so much wont do any faltwork properly if there is a fence up or trotting poles down!

I guess you are better selling her on then, you don't want some wally to ruin her.

I think you are going the right way about selling her and have priced her realistically. I don't see why she shouldn't sell if she is as nice as she sounds. Good luck.
