Had to have the vet out for tom on Friday due to his front leg looking like an elephants leg

Vet said he has an infection and bruised his fetlock, due to tom brushing.

He said to speak to my farrier and use turnout boots.

When using turnout boots, can I turn tom out during the day, then take them off to ride, feed anduck out and then put them back on when I turn him back out? Tom is turned out 24/7

Thank you

I use some turnout boots I think they are equilibrium or equi chap . They are available from ride-away . I think they have two different thicknesses, I have the thicker pair , not cheap but considering the damage my four year old could do in the field they have saved ne a fortune in vets fees.

you shouldnt have equichaps on for more than 12 out of 24hrs so not really suitable unless worked or ridden before putting back on (or at least walked without anything on) shouldnt think youd have a problem with brushing boots or similar tho.x

I used equlibrium hardy chaps on my horse last year but they can only be used for max 12hrs a day and not suitable in hot weather but they did a great job of protecting his legs when he was first turned out from box rest.
I dont know any boots that you can use 24hrs i would be caucious of overheating the legs.
