Well basically pickle has anemia

Now we have put him on the iron supplement and on sunday/monday he started to perk up and go a bit crazy! (he was very lethargic and not himself before) then YO has phone today and said he is back to exactly the same he was on saturday! Normally giving him a iron supplement sorts it any ideas??? (he is not himself at the moment just strange things like on sunday, he walked past lots of plastic bags without spooking which NEVER happens!)

My dog is anemic, he's currently on.............wait for it:
Antepsin 1.5 tablets 3x aday
Pro..something (steroid) 4 tablets 2x aday
Noroclav (antibiotic) 2 tablets 2x aday
Met....zole (antibiotic) 3 tablets 2x aday
Lu...something 15ml 3x aday
Samilyn 2 sachets 1x aday
He rattles like a pill bottle! I know this doesn't help but I just want to let you know that I know how you feel and hope your horse gets better soon!

I think what's probably happening is that the suppliment had a pretty immediate effect on him, making him feel much better. But remember he is still probably in 'recovery' mode generally - and so will still get tired quickly. I hope that he is not being worked at the moment, other than quietly walked in order to allow him to recover gently and properly.
