Need some help/guidance/suggestions please!!!
I bought my horse (who was a 'challenge' to say the least) off a girl i have known all my life. Tbh, if i hadnt had him, i don't know where he would of ended up! But anyway, she wanted a confident giving cob to do a variety of activities with, so i helped her find one, the one she bought was the one i told her not to buy as he wouldn't be suitable so 5 weeks of owning him - he isnt suitable
x
I competed him for her on the weekend along side my horse and for a 15hh cob he flew round the 2ft 9 and 3ft really well, getting two double clears. I'd only ridden him once before as well when i helped her viewing.
In the warm up he was very hyped up, baring in mind he probably hasnt done anything for a year, competition wise, but is fit. He did 3 big bucks before going into the jump, purely from excitement, but i smacked him and kicked him on and he jumped lovely. He gets fizzed up at the anticipation of getting to the jump more than anything i think and i do think this is easy emough to fix.
Now, the owner paid reasonable money for him including tack etc (only 5 weeks ago) and she wants me to compete him, keep him at livery etc and sell him on her behalf. I would keep the money i make on him. What would he realistically be worth? This isnt advertising as i havent agreed to take him on or not. What would you do? X I think money can be made on him but as i've never had a cob, i know they can fetch good money but wouldnt know what exactly. I will hunt him, xc and team chase, SJ him until he is sold but would need him sold within 3 months really to make it worthwhile before costs stack up!
She has also had him on loooooads of grass which wouldnt of helped his hyper levels! Is there a market for livelier cobs? I dont think he'll ever be a plod but he's so good on the roads etc.
Thoughts please?
