Advive please......swollen glands

Need some advice. Went to get my mare in from field tonight and her glands in her neck are all swollen (just behing strap of headcollar), they aren't hot or painful, but are very hard. Her temp was 37.6 C. And she seems fine every other way. Has had a slight cough recently, but nothing today. any ideas?

My horse gets grass gland, usually when he trys to stuff his face on shortish grass. i bring mine in on sand over night to let them go down. Has yours just gone out on the spring grass, if she is fine in herself. its probably grass glands. shel prob get them alot throughout the summer.

you would know if it was strangles, as you would have signs of a possible abcess forming and discharge from eyes and nose. discharge from nose would NOT be clear. and the horse would be "under the weather" for want of a better word. If you keep her off the grass over night in a paddock or stable and if they are gone by the morning then its grass glands and she will likely continue to get them. i bring mine in at night just to give them a chance to go down. lots of horses get them, its quite common. if my horse get his 2moz then il take a pic and pm it to you for you to compare to yours. he had them 2nite so is likely to get them 2moz!
 
Grass glands are just swollen glands due to over production of saliva from overeating...they usually pop up at this time of year when the grass starts coming through.
I would keep an eye over the next couple of days and perhaps call your vet if you're still worried.
Swollen glands were a sign of my horses' lymphoma but they were very sore for a couple of days when they first came up so I doubt this is what is wrond with yours..
 
Sounds like grass mumps, my cob gets these, the first time she came in looking like Hammy Hamster i got the vet and he came out checked her over and said it was her glands etc nothing to worry about and just said the only treatment she needed was err nothing ... and all i needed was expensive reassurance!!

yep, my eeventer has them atm, its when the grass starts to come through with lots of sugar, grass mumps. They shouldnt effect them, bt we are turning him out over night so by the time i ride him in the eve, they have gone down a bit!! lol x
 
THANK YOU!!! No lumps this morning, so i guess it is grass glands. thank you all so so so much!!! i wont get into a panic if she comes in with them tonight.
