Hi,

Just wondered if anyone has used these and what there thoughts were. My horse has developed a splint after pulling a shoe and striking himself, after hooning around in the paddock, i thought i would try these rather than cold hosing all the time. any thoughts good/bad.
:)

Thanks

Hi
I used one recently when my horse had puffy leg from charging around the field. Good time saver as I could put the boot on and tie him up outside while I did stable chores rather than standing and hosing his leg. Downside is that the fittings are fairly flimsy and difficult to do up if your horse is a fidget like mine! Found bandaging over the boot was best option tho the one time I left him loose in the stable he managed to remove the bandage and chew the boot! Mind you he chews everything!! My boy has now been scanned and all is well. Think the boot helped reduce the swelling and would use again. You do need access to a freezer at the yard as the boot thaws after about half an hour and needs re-freezing before next use.

Thanks moodles, think ill try one. Only downside is the fridge at the yard doesnt have a freezer section, i live about ten mins away so may be lucky.
