I've tried the Wintec Close Contact jumping saddle which fitted me very well but was ever so slightlyon Boomer's shoulders so it was no good. We have had a saddler up who brought out some beautiful jumping saddles, fitted both of us perfectly. Unfortunatly they were all over £1k and we just can't afford it.

The problem I have is that the saddle is too small for me! The seat is extremely small (my 5ft1 mum even finds it too small) and when I have my stirrups at jumping length my knees hang over the front of the saddle. I'm 5ft4 on a 14hh (he's a size 16.5"-17" medium/wide).

Does anyone know of any jumping saddles other than wintec for less than about £700?

Any help greatly appreciated.

P.S. I currently have a GFS "Pro Event"

second hand! seriously, there are some great saddles about 2nd hand. there was an adjustable Barrie Swaine Rachel Bayliss xc one on ebay the other day for £450 iirc, i nearly grabbed it but have too many saddles already!

If you know the name of the ones you tried that fitted you perfectly, then have a look on ebay for second versions, also look on saddlesdirect.com, great if you know what you are looking for. There are some great second hand jumping saddles out there, I have just bought a lovely second hand pessoa for £300

Deffo buy second hand if on a budget.

Also ring up saddlers and ask if they have any ex demo ones.

I managed to get and exam demo for £550 instead of £900. All because it had been plonked on a few horses and sat on max. 10 times!

Also i got a second hand Stubben Siegfried for £350 and it is LUSH! I love it

Mine was £800 - Cliff Barnsby. But it was the demonstrator saddle so I know a brand new version would be about £900. Its by far the best saddle Ive ever had, Ive bought 3 for 3 different horses its that good.
how much are you wanting to spend?
I agree with the above, you can pick up a fab saddle second hand

Poor you - do they force you to use it?? The saddles really don't look great!

Find the £1,000 saddle that fits the best and pick it up on ebay for half price!

I've got a HDR one, think they come from the same distributor that does the Shires stuff. I reckon it cost me about £450 tops and I've only sat on one other jumping saddle I prefer! Depends on the style you prefer, if you like the Stubben style it's prob not for you but if you like a slightly older style (but still nice and light) reckon you'll like it - I ride mine, my 'adopted' racehorse and my Sunday project horse in it (and indeed anything else that is narrow enough!)

I got a 6month old Albion XC single flap on ebay for £950, which although is over your budget, shows how good ebay is for 2nd hand saddles!! I'm pretty sure it would have been about £1200 from a saddler as it was in almost new condition!
I only bought off ebay cos I knew what size fitted him.

But there is a company who sell on ebay and do made to measure, Heritage I think, thyey look like nice saddles.

Have a look at the Fusion Saddles. Sue has spent years desiging these from the finest leather and based around some very good name saddles but at a fraction of the cost.
I have a fusion coral and it's beautiful. The are all made in france in the butet factory!! mine was £600 brand new fitted & includes my follow up visits

DITTO!!!
I adore my Fusion Saddle - I have the Oynx Pro - seriously impressed with the whole lot! I hack and jump in my jumping saddle and its not toooo close to do long rides in - which was my main spec as all the devs and butets of the world are beautiful but as flat as a racing saddle.
Im 5.9 with silly long legs so was made extra fwd cut as I do ride short - Sue understands as shes also extrememly tall and used to p2p. Give her a ring!!

there are none on the market at the moment as things are being refined/changed etc... i wasn't suggesting it as i cant suggest a product which is not even finalised! and no i am not forced to use it... if its not right for me or my horse then im clearly not going to use it!
