Affordable, stiff / supportive long riding boots?

Any recommendations for competition long boots, with a supportive ankle, and not too soft leather, that wont go saggy around my ankles?

Budget of about £200.

Must have a zip.

Thanks

Broginis

I've had mine about 12-13 years now and they are still fab.

I have spent quite a bit of time polishing mine over the years, and they are so shiny now they nearly look like patent ;).

:)

Thanks. I actually have brogini boots now. But I think mine were bought in a sale, and are fine Italian leather ones. I find a bit soft, and not very supportive, two years down the line. Only worn for clinics / competitions, kept in trees.

I think I have these ones http://www.brogini.com/Product/3000/3000-Napoli-Long-Boot

Is it definitely the Roma that you have, that have supportive ankles?

My mountain horse sportive high rider are very supportive round my ankles. I've had them about 9 years now and still look good even though I don't clean them as often as I should. Not too creased or saggy either after all this time.

Make sure you put a bit aside for trees, they do help with prevention of sagginess! Also putting a wedge under the heel on the insole when new means they drop naturally rather than forced (if that makes sense) and end up less heavily creased.

Brogini are quite nice in the price range.

Any Brogini's in particular? I emailed them, asking for which were most supportive to ankle and havent replied.

I have boot trees - but plastic ones that dont include the toe. What sort of boot trees are best to support the boots from sagging? Link? :-)

I bought current Brogini's much reduced in sale, and they were a fraction short, so I didnt need heel wedges for comfort, hadnt realised they were also useful for breaking boots in slowly. How long do you use them for?

Mine are lazios I got in the sale. They support my ankle very well, but I do have a substantial ankle...

I used them until you could see the boot has dropped. On your leg.

Boot trees, you want something that rests on the insole and really supports/ fills out the ankle. If your plastic ones aren't doing the job you might even find a piece of plastic pipe or a wine bottle etc is better. Or even these:
