For a pet animal I personally wouldn't consider an unneutered dog or bitch - primarily because the dogs are much nicer to be around with no chasing after in season bitches, not having to cock their leg every two seconds to mark and an end to the constant sniffing, as well as the health considerations too. I also found unneutered dogs seem to have a very 'doggy' smell. Then there is the problem of seasons and phantom pregnancies in bitches.

My husband lost his family pet to pyometra before we were married. It truly is a horrible thing for them to suffer and so easily prevented.
